This award category is to recognise our region's impactful, innovative, and transformative activities, including carbon reduction and climate adaptation, leading the sector towards a highly resilient, sustainable, and low-carbon future.

Judging Criteria for the Award:

  • Innovation (15)
  • Impact (evidence, data, testimonials) (15)
  • Implementation – how was this work rolled out / delivered? (10)
  • Potential for wider implementation (10)
  • Quality of submission (5)
  • Any additional attributes, please consider the following examples (10):

Engineering Challenge Award

This award category is to recognise our region's technical excellence, innovative solutions and transformative activities, to solve a particularly challenging engineering problem, keeping our transport system safe, resilient, more efficient, and sustainable, through excellent practice, highly innovative technical solutions and commitment to the profession.

Judging Criteria for the Award:

  • Solution (10)

Exceptional Emerging Talent Award

This award category is to recognise our region's up-and-coming emerging professionals. There will be two awards given to the Best Emerging Professional and Best Apprentice.

Judging Criteria for the Award:

  • Contribution to the East Midlands highways or transportation sector (10 points)
  • Role model for highways or transportation (10 points)
  • Active in positively promoting the industry/sector within the East Midlands (5 points)

Road Safety Award

The Road Safety Award is to recognise activity within our region across the highways and transportation sector that is impactful, and innovative and provides outstanding achievements which improve ’all’ road user safety through excellent practice, commitment, design, and technical application. These activities will be leading the sector towards a highly resilient, safe, and sustainable future.

Judging Criteria for the Award:

  • Validation / Description - how does this entry meet the award description? (10)
  • Solution development – why and how was this solution identified? (20)
  • How has this work been delivered? (15)
  • Results and Evaluation (data, KPIs, etc.,) (15)
  • Demonstration of Sustainability (10)
  • Quality of submission (5)
  • Any additional attributes, please consider the following examples (10):

Transport Planning Award

With a focus on sustainability, the Transport Planning award is to recognise and acknowledge activity within our region across the highways and transportation sector and is awarded to an organisation, highway authority or joint commission, that has implemented a successful scheme applying impactful, innovative, and transformative activities leading the sector towards a highly resilient, sustainable, and low-carbon future.

Judging Criteria for the Award:

  • How has the problem been addressed? (10)
  • Innovation or best-in-class use of standards (15)
  • Results or benefits (statistics, evidence) (15)
  • Other benefits above & beyond the business case (e.g., road safety, modal shift, net zero) (10)
  • Quality of submission (5)
  • Any additional attributes, please consider the following examples (10):
    • Value for money
    • Efficiencies, cost savings
    • Potential for wider implementation
    • Implementation (e.g., training, communications, development of transport planners etc.)
