Asset Management

Here you will find resources that relate to Asset Management (including highway and infrastructure maintenance), if you cannot find what you require or wish to suggest / discuss appropriate contact, please contact e: technical@ciht.org.uk

Assets can be physical, financial, human or intangible whether in the public or private sectors. For many large organisations within highways and transportation such as Highways England and Network Rail, everything they do is centred on asset management. Asset management systems monitor and maintain assets to maximise value for money, mitigate risk and satisfy diverse stakeholders.

The use of asset management principles provides improved outcomes for organisations and supports improvements for a supported organisation. The focus of asset management is on improved outcomes including stakeholder communication; improved performance; long term savings thorough application of whole life principles; improved risk management; improved resilience and improved staff capability.
