The STEM Ambassadors Programme is a network of volunteers, all with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Maths (the STEM subjects). The network operates across the UK, and is coordinated by STEM.
CIHT STEM Ambassadors inspire young people to continue studying STEM subjects, and help them to explore the applications of their studies in the wider world. They broaden career horizons, raise aspirations, and build understanding of the role that these subjects play in everyone’s lives.

CIHT STEM ambassadors can now advertise their skills, abilities and their availability through the STEM Learning platform. Teachers and schools can now find local STEM ambassadors through their own STEM Learning profiles.
Over the next two decades, transport technology will change faster than at any time since the Victorian era. The advent of new technologies is already revolutionising the ways in which we think about travel and more than ever and the students of today will be living in tomorrow’s Cities of the Future. This Interactive Activity Pack is designed to encourage students of various ages to think creatively about solving real-world problems and making our transport networks safer, while encouraging them to get into Transport Planning and the wider sector. This Interactive Activity Pack can be used by STEM Ambassadors to encourage and support more students to imagine their very own ‘City of the Future’.
This activity pack is the third in the series of Careers material produced by CIHT.

The interactive activity pack is better suited for a primary school audience (aged 8-12). Even though it will be better suited for a younger audience, it can be used for children of all ages, including young adults, depending on the creativity of the STEM Ambassador and their abilities to adapt their teaching style to the audience. The materials section of the pack can be altered to suit different age groups but is primarily aimed at a primary school audience. The STEM Ambassador presents the class with a challenge; they create a model that showcases ways they could improve the local area/support the community by introducing new ways to manage the challenge.
The interactive approach of the pack allows children to have fun while practicing Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Geography. It gives them an opportunity to imagine and demonstrate solutions to real-world transport problems, evaluate their work and understand how design and technology have helped shape the world. The pack also offers children a chance to practice and develop their written and verbal communication skills, while learning about how travel and infrastructure will evolve in the future their own responsibilities in the community and towards the environment.

The toolkit is a resource to help CIHT members to illustrate the exciting range of opportunities in the world of transport to young people using the different activities and drawing upon their own experience.
CIHT members must first sign up with STEM Learning before they can receive the pack or toolkit. Once you have done so, please register your interest in receiving the pack(s) by completing the form below.
