Mentoring is a semi-structured process by which experienced individuals share own their knowledge, skills and experience to help others to achieve their professional and/or personal development goals. As an example, a mentor can support their mentee to identify any gaps in their knowledge and experience, so they can plan appropriate professional development activities to meet the relevant competence requirements of the professional qualification they are aiming to achieve.
CIHT Mentoring is available to CIHT members who are currently working towards Engineering Council or Chartered Transport Planning Professional registration
CIHT mentors provide advice, guidance and encouragement to their mentee on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. As a mentor, you will help the mentee identify the relevant knowledge, skills and experience required to meet the relevant competence requirements of the professional qualification they are aiming to achieve and advise on how this might be demonstrated in their mentees submission and at the professional review interview.
Please see the Professional Qualifications Mentoring Guides below for for more information on mentoring with CIHT.
