At this time of the year a key focus for the Board of Trustees is looking forward to the new financial year, which means considering the proposed budget and by extension membership subscriptions. Whilst the environment for any professional institution is challenging at times, the Trustees were pleased to hear that the CIHT continues to be in a good place financially. That allows us to take the initiative on key issues – such as our response to climate change – as leaders amongst the wider profession.

At the same time the Board of Trustees continues to look to strengthen its offer to members and partner organisations. A case in point today was the consideration of proposals for an improved Private Sector Corporate Partner scheme, work on which is now being taken forward with a view to launching the new scheme early in 2020.

Although today was only our second meeting as a Board it is clear that its diversity is a real strength and ensures that we continue to stay focused on meeting the objectives of our Royal Charter as a learned society that delivers public good.
