The CIHT North West Awards 2023

The CIHT North West Region held its 14th Annual Awards Dinner at the Park Royal Hotel in Warrington on 27th April.

Almost 250 industry colleagues from across the region gathered to celebrate the very best the North West offers across the key areas of highways and transportation. The Awards recognise the outstanding contribution that good projects and people make to our daily lives.

Guests were joined by the CIHT’s President, Neil Johnstone, together with representatives of the North East and Cumbria Region and CECA North West.


The Award Winners

The judging panel were impressed with the high calibre of entries throughout and the competition was very close. During the evening CIHT North West Chair, Alex Parkin, presented Awards to the following recipients:

North West Air Ambulance raffle

During the evening a raffle was held in support of North West Air Ambulance. The NWAA team had obtained a number of prizes, and the raffle raised over £1400 in support of the charity. The Region's thanks go to all those who contributed.

Project of the Year Award 

These Awards are aimed at projects which are outstanding examples of projects that demonstrate a contribution to the mobility of the community in the north west of England.

Environmental/Sustainability Award

This Award recognises projects, products, policy initiatives or strategies delivered by the highways and transportation industry that can demonstrate a contribution to sustainable working and living in the region.

Safety and Well-Being Award

This Award recognises projects and policy initiatives or strategies that have contributed to either safety improvements in the highways and transportation industry or to the improvement of the health and well-being of an organisation's workforce.

Best Practice Award

This Award is to recognise and encourage imaginative concepts and excellence within the highways and transportation industry where a marked positive benefit has been achieved.

Emerging Professional Award

This award recognises an emerging professional who has shown great potential and achievement in our industry.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award

This award recognises employers or individuals that have implemented (or been involved in) an EDI (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion) initiative of merit in the North West.

Covid-19 Response Award
For this year only the Region decided to present an Award to recognise the outstanding work of individuals, teams and organisations in dealing with the first Covid pandemic lockdown between March and May 2020 when work practices had to be changed very quickly to meet the challenges which arose. It recognised excellence and dedication as well as innovation, collaboration and commitment.
